Position Overview
The Director of Accreditation (DA) oversees the accreditation aspects of the organization and supervises the accreditation team, including Accreditation Coordinators, volunteers, and consultants. This role stewards new and ongoing relationships with member schools and manages the process of continuing recognition as an accrediting agency with the USDE.

This is a remote position, with ability to travel 2-3 times per year

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University
3 or more years management experience with direct supervisory responsibilities
3 or more years in experience in accreditation
Ability to travel 2-3 times per year
Desirable qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education administration or a related field
3 or more years experience with U.S. Department of Education (USDE) accreditation-recognition processes and/or demonstrable knowledge of USDE regulation
2 or more years in higher education administration or regulatory compliance
2 years experience in the midwifery profession and/or other healthcare professions
3 or more years experience in midwifery education and/or experience in competency-based education in a health related field

Duties & Responsibilities
Board of Directors:
Keep Board of Directors fully informed on the accreditation condition of the agency and all important factors influencing it.
Provide new Board members accreditation training and all board annual accreditation training.
Oversee preparation of accreditation materials for all board meetings
Accreditation Operations
Attend all Board of Director meetings and committee meetings as appropriate or requested.
Oversee all accreditation work, including:
Researching issues; finding resolutions, and educating board members on issues as appropriateQuality Assurance and Quality Improvement with regard to accreditation work
Reviewing all reports before release.
Ensure that the accreditation work of the organization progresses according to the timelines established.
Consult with legal counsel, as needed, concerning accreditation questions and concerns.
Communicate with and guide prospective schools through the process of accreditation, including recruitment, education and training.
Coordinate and lead ongoing training for current member schools including reaccreditation training.
Schedule, plan and facilitate the quarterly Member School Meetings .
Responsible for engaging the revision process of the MEAC Accreditation Handbook, Section A-I, in coordination with the BOD, including managing the ongoing standards revision process and overseeing implementation.
Follow, revise, and maintain a comprehensive Accreditation Policy and Procedure Manual for all accreditation functions of the organization, ensuring that it is in alignment with the current standards, the MEAC Accreditation Handbook and relevant regulatory agencies.
Responsible for all aspects of the member school’s Annual Reporting process, updating and refining each cycle.
Manage formal and informal complaint processes filed against schools.
Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in higher education and accreditation.
Accreditation Staff and Volunteer Management
Responsible for the recruitment, retention and training of Accreditation Review Committee (ARC) volunteers.
Responsible for assigning and managing the Independent Board Reviewers (IBR) and ARC vacancies
Conduct regular evaluations of ARC and IBR member performance, including self-evaluation, evaluation from the midwifery programs, and evaluations from others on the ARC, IBR, and staff.
Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in accreditation areas.
Support, train, supervise and assess Accreditation Coordinators in their daily work managing the accreditation process and timelines.
Collaborate with the Executive Director when significant changes concerning accreditation personnel are anticipated.
Regulatory Compliance
Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Ensure the website is up-to-date with accreditation and member school information.
Serve as USDE contact person and provide updates to their databases and necessary documentation with respect to Accreditation decisions.
Manage the process of continuing recognition as an accrediting agency (preparation and submission of petitions, ongoing interim reports, and NACIQI hearings).
Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in federal recognition and regulations.
Participate actively in the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA) bi-annual conferences and e-list communications.
Initiate updates to MEAC processes, policies, procedures, standards and documents as needed based on regulatory changes.
Supervision
This position supervises the following positions: Accreditation Coordinator(s), Accreditation Review Committee members, and Independent Board Reviewers for accreditation matters.
