Midwives Are Key to Climate Resilience

Join The Wilson Center’s Maternal Health Initiative for a virtual panel discussion in partnership with UNFPA, on the crucial role of midwives in addressing climate change. Midwives are essential in providing maternal and newborn health services, especially during climate-related disasters. Despite their critical role, there is a global shortage of midwives and insufficient investment our training and support. This event will showcase innovative strategies midwives use to care for women and families during extreme heat, flooding, and wildfires, and discuss the necessary policies to support them as frontline workers in climate-affected areas.
