NACPM members now have access to a suite of membership benefits that will save you money, provide access to the latest midwifery research, and promote and protect your practice.
Are you looking for ways to increase public awareness of your services? Do you wish you knew how to locate other CPMs who share your interests? NACPM is launching a web based directory of CPMs that will allow childbearing families to find a CPM when they need one and allow NACPM members to find and connect with one another. Listings in the directory are entirely free to members and are available to nonmembers for an annual fee of $50. The directory allows you to post contact information, a description of your practice and/or other professional endeavors, biographical information, photos and more.
View the CPM Directory here.
To create your own CPM Directory listing, follow these instructions.
Please contact us if you would like assistance with any aspect of creating your listing, or have questions about the project.
NACPM in partnership with Citizens for Midwifery (CfM) and the Association for Midwifery Educators (AME), has been offering webinars since 2014. Continuing Education Credits are available for your professional development.
Midwifery Matters Subscription
All CPM Members of NACPM receive a Midwifery Matters subscription free of charge. All other NACPM Members can receive a 15% discount. Midwifery Matters is a semi-annual, peer-reviewed journal published in January and July. It offers student and midwife led research and writing, providing resources to practicing midwives, and fostering a space for dialogue within the midwifery community. Midwifery Matters provides a forum for research for the out-of-hospital birth community by highlighting current research relevant to midwifery practice, and by cultivating a new generation of midwife writers and midwife researchers. In order to receive your 15% discount, please go to the subscription page and enter “NACPM” in the Promo Code field.
Professional Liability Insurance – The Midwife Plan
NACPM members will receive a 10% premium credit on professional liability insurance policies, underwritten by MedPro Group and purchased through Southern Cross Insurance Solutions, a woman owned business. Ann Geisler, President, is a regular attendee at midwifery conferences and has personally stepped up to support the establishment of NACPM state chapters by offering $500 seed money to each newly formed chapter. Now she has taken another step by offering this 10% premium credit to NACPM members.
“Southern Cross Insurance Solutions will work with you to understand your business and then provide comprehensive and competitive policies. We pride ourselves on identifying superior companies that provide excellent policy services, risk management, and claims capabilities. The Midwife Plan can be individual or group coverage, configured to meet the specific needs of your practice.” The Midwife Plan is an Allied Healthcare Professional and General Liability Insurance policy designed specifically for Out Of Hospital (OOH) Midwives and Birth Center Practices. For more information about this policy or the other insurance products available, call (888) 9853542 or contact Ann Geisler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health
NACPM is excited to offer as a benefit of membership a $90 discount on the Journal of Midwifery & Women’s Health, the official journal of the American College of Nurse Midwives. This peer-reviewed journal publishes current research with a focus on evidence-based practice, promoting women’s and infants’ health, and excellence in midwifery. Their work is increasingly relevant to Certified Professional Midwives. In addition to publishing a number of CPM-authored articles, in 2015 the JMWH has explored specific topics such as out-of-hospital birth, noninvasive prenatal testing, and interprofessional collaboration. Members who subscribe can also access affordable CEUs by reading content, completing tests, and printing certificates of completion online.
