NACPM’s purpose is to be the powerful collective voice for Certified Professional Midwives to ensure that all parents and babies have a healthy start, to strengthen the profession, and to redefine public policy with the values of CPM care.

NACPM is working for you to create a secure foothold for CPMs in the US healthcare system, to support the growth of the profession and remove barriers to practice – for the sake of women, infants and families, including the most vulnerable.

In addition to working on behalf of CPMs and families, NACPM also offers opportunities for professional development through our continuing education webinars. In addition, there are numerous membership benefits such as a free subscription to Midwifery Matters for CPM Members, listing your practice in our national directory, as well as discounts on journals and professional liability insurance.

Funding the work of NACPM:

  • Your Dues: it is critical that NACPM members contribute to the development of the profession. Your dues contribute to support for CPMs and the development of certified professional midwifery.

  • Fund Raising: from supporters and foundations: over $200,000 in 2015 alone

The importance of fund raising and the development of the profession:

NACPM’s demonstrated capacity to fund raise has spared CPMs, a profession still in development, from having to shoulder the whole financial burden of securing a place for the profession within the maternity care system. As the profession becomes more established and integrated, and legal recognition, reimbursement, and secure work and employment opportunities become the norm, CPMs will evolve to be more capable of the financial support of the work of their professional organization with dues

Although, NACPM will continue to reach out to the donor community to support the essential work of supporting the development of the profession, your membership and engagement are critical to the success of NACPM and CPM midwifery. You are NACPM! JOIN or RENEW today!
