NACPM in partnership with the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) released an historic consensus statement: Supporting Healthy and Normal Physiologic Childbirth: A Consensus Statement by ACNM, MANA, and NACPM, giving maternity care providers, policymakers, and women a succinct summary of the evidence for the benefits of normal physiologic childbirth.
Following the release of this statement, NACPM accepted ACNM’s invitation to join the ACNM Physiologic Birth Task Force subcommittees. These three organizations subsequently released Normal, Healthy Childbirth for Women and Families: What You Need to Know, a consumer-friendly resource to increase consumer awareness about the value of normal, healthy physiologic birth. NACPM has participated in The Physiologic Birth Toolkit Subcommittee to develop toolkits for hospital-based clinicians and staff at the point of care. This resource is coming soon at BirthTOOLS.org.
